The Elder Care Support Program (ECS) is here to educate, advocate, and walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders as they navigate the My Aged Care (MAC) system. We are committed to ensuring our Elders receive the culturally respectful care and support they deserve, honouring their dignity, knowledge, and choice. Through ECS, we offer individual support to help Elders understand My Aged Care, access the right services, navigate assessments, and make informed decisions about aged-care options.
How We Support Our Elders
Educate
We support our Elders by providing clear, culturally appropriate information to help them understand the My Aged Care system. Through guided conversations, resources and one-on-one yarning, we ensure Elders feel confident, informed and empowered to make decisions about their care.
Advocate
We help to breakdown the complex language used in the aged care system while advocating for Elders in the process of, registrations, assessments, choosing a provider and reviews of current care plans. This allows Elders to have choice and control over their services to maintain quality of care.
Navigate
We walk alongside our Elders as they move through the My Aged Care system, offering guidance at every step. Through information sessions, workshops and one-on-one support, we help Elders understand their options and feel confident in choosing the services that best meet their needs. We link Elders with providers who focus on quality of care, not quantity – ensuring respect, understanding and genuine wellbeing throughout their care journey.
Who Can Access This Program
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 years and over.
